Somerset Area Ministries
The following ministries are provided in the Somerset area in order to better witness to the general populous.
S.A.M. Van
We are a non-profit corporation that provides free transportation by appointment to not only Pittsburgh, but also to Johnstown, Altoona, Greensburg and all points in between. The Van operates Monday through Friday and departs from the Grace United Methodist Church in Somerset.
The SAM Van is operated by donations from the generous people, churches and civic groups of Somerset County. The vans are serviced by local auto service garages. Our drivers are volunteers who have driven over 250,000 miles transporting 3,194 people since we started in 2004.

Volunteers Are Needed:
To drive our minivans to transport people to their appointments. We invite any inquiries without making a commitment to drive. Financial support is always welcomed.

The Walk is held the fourth Sunday of September.

Somerset County Mobile Food Bank
                                                                                  The Mobile Food Bank receives food from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank as well as local farmers who let us glean their fields.  This then is transported in our refrigerated truck to nine locations through out Somerset County to those who qualify by income.   Check out the schedule and the qualifications at our web site.

Advent/Lenten Services

The services are held the four Wednesdays before Christmas at First United Methodist Church,  149 West Patriot Street, Somerset, PA 15501     Call 445-5736 for details.   Services begin at 11:30 am with special music. At 12:05 PM various clergy offer inspirational messages.  An offering to support SAM is collected followed by a light lunch in the fellowship hall.  Come and receive a blessing for your soul.
